Photographing the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous (2016). A great week where I met some amazing people and spent time on some beautiful boats. Here I am with Nikolaus Prachensky, an amazing man who lives in Chang Mai. He has lived here for over 30 years and makes limited edition Gin, Vodka & whisky. He has just finished a signature Gin exclusively for Kata Rocks.
The Dunia Baru, Means “new world” in Indonesian, carries a crew of 18 and can host 14 passengers. Launched in December 2013, the 51m Dunia Baru may be traditional in style, but she is the product of passion and expertise from around the world. Designed by an American architect and built from Indonesian teak and ironwood by Konjo Boat Builders in Borneo, her interior and marine systems were completed in Bali, her sails were made in Thailand, her rigging is from the United Kingdom and her marine systems are to ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) standards, ensuring unparalleled levels of service and reliability.
Onboard the Dunia Baru, all the beautiful woodwork was hand done. The two main boat builders are onboard as part of the crew.

One of the major participants, the Lauren L, the 33rd largest superyacht in the world – as a participating superyacht in the inaugural Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous. This fantastic superyacht joins the impressive fleet of over a dozen elite superyachts for its inaugural event, representing the most stunning spectacle of superyachts ever assembled in Phuket.

The yachts include, MY Paraffin (61m, Feadship), SY Dunia Baru (51m, Konjo Boat Builders), MY Northern Sun (51m, Narasaki Shipyard), MY Azul A (34m, Moonen Shipyard), SY Ocean Runner 110 (34m, TCC Yacht Building), MY After 8 (29.9m, PR Marine Yachtbau GMBH & Co.), SY Dallinghoo Schooner (29.6m, S.A. Pritchard), MY Princess 88 (26.8m, Princess Yachts) and SY Aspiration (26.2m, Nautor’s Swan).

Other participating yachts include: MY Ferretti 72 (22m, Ferretti Yachts), MY Monte Carlo MCY70 (21.3m, Monte Carlo Yachts), Arabella (21.4m , Victoria Flagship class 67) and Zeelander Z44 (13.5m, Zeelander Yachts).

The KRSR opening party will be on-board the magnificent 51-metre Phinisi-style sailing yacht Dunia Baru. Owner of Dunia Baru, Mark Robba said: “We are delighted to be partnering with such an innovative team at Kata Rocks and we are proud to be hosting the opening party on Dunia Baru.”

Sunday guests embark to the Surin Phuket for a delicious private beach BBQ. Cruise Day features the KRSR armada of sensational superyachts on parade, a first along Phuket’s west coast. The stunning spectacle will be documented by 10 photographers and three aerial drones, watch it live on Kata Rocks social media feeds via the #KRSR hashtag.

Yachts will then return to the resort for the ‘Gins of The World’ party, followed by the exclusive invitation-only ‘Feadship Owner’s Dinner’ reserved for Kata Rocks and Superyacht owners in a Kata Rocks’ Penthouse Sky Villa.
