"A journey is best measured in friends rather than miles”

Hi, my name is James Adam.

Welcome to my blog, this is my story of my travels around S.E. Asia by Scooter. This included travelling through Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia.

I was born in Scotland but left home at 15 and travelled to Australia by myself. I have also lived in Canada, US, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar & Cambodia.

My passions are photography, wildlife conservation, travelling, meeting new people & exploring new cultures and trying new cuisines.

I have travelled throughout every state of Australia, plus New Zealand while working in some very remote areas. I love capturing images of the incredible diversity of flora & fauna we have. Working at Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island  as a Naturalist Guide was a great experience. The Lodge was awarded "Best Lodge in the World" in 2011/12.

I have travelled over 40,000 kms by bike through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam & Cambodia. I have seen some amazing sights, met some fantastic people, eaten some incredible food  and captured some beautiful images. I have ridden from Phuket up to Udon Thani, then across to Chiang Mai and up to Mae Sai and into Laos & Burma, this included riding one of the most picturesque and winding roads in Thailand. Crossing Thailand's highest mountain (Doi Inthanon), riding through Pai & Mae Hong Son and then down to Mae Sot on the Burma border. This is the famous Loop road, with over 600 hairpin bends. Then back down to Bangkok and home to Phuket. A trip of over 15000kms which saw me on the road for nearly two months. This included riding into Bangkok during the anti goverment protests and having to ride across town following a Motorbike Taxi, that's an experience guaranteed to get your blood pumping. My first bike trip (11000kms) was on my Honda PCX, which is a 150cc Scooter. I then upgraded to a Honda Forza NSS300, which is a great cruising bike, has far more power & response than the PCX, with a real presence on the road. If you want to experience one of life's true adventures, try riding a bike through HaNoi or Saigon (Vietnam) in the rush hour..
